After our Giants’ Graves and Glenashdale Falls walk, that night we drove to the north of the island to picturesque Lochranza for our dinner.
The scenery driving north was spectacular. These mountains look like a ‘sleeping warrior’. It’s not the best angle to see him though.
A must buy book is the beautifully illustrated Arran for Families, The Second Edition, by David Hilton. It’s out of print now but you might find one online or on the island itself.
I’ve found lots of hidden secrets about Arran in this book and the illustrations are simply beautiful!

We created our own version of the sleeping warrior. Once you see it, you will always see it.

We parked the Land Rover near Lochranza Castle and made pasta with our camping stove.

There’s nothing better than eating in the great outdoors. The food always tastes good, even from a tin!
We explored the castle ruin, watched the sunset and chilled after our adventurous few days.

When it started to get darker we headed back to Brodick and stopped to take this photo. Brodick looked so tranquil across the bay with a few splodges of colour at dusk.

I was happy but also sad as it was our last night and we were heading back home in the morning.
The rain came on ‘leaving day’.
I knew one thing for sure, I was coming back and I try to make sure I visit at least once a year.
We’ve explored other parts of the island on our visits over the years. I’ll share more ‘must do’ walks in a future post.
Our next adventure will take you further north west of Scotland to Ardnarmurchan!
Thanks for reading.
Love, Dawn-Marie x
