My peak challenge 2016

What is My Peak Challenge?

Watching the fantastic Outlander TV series and following the actor Sam Heughan on Twitter led me to joining My Peak Challenge (MPC) in February 2016.

MPC is to challenge yourself to do something outwith your comfort zone. This can be anything and doesn’t need to be climbing a mountain or anything fitness related at all. You could do some knitting, paint a picture, go on a journey. It’s all about doing something that you’ve always wanted to.

So my main challenges this year are:

My challenges My progress
Running:

  1. 10k run in May
  2. 10k run in June
  3. 16k run in September
  4. 10k run in October
  5. Marcothon challenge – run every day in December. Minimum of three miles or 25 minutes – which ever comes first
  6. Run a 5k in under 30mins

6. 😟 I never managed this one so I’ll carry it forward to 2017!

Wild camp on top of Goat Fell on the summer solstice – 19/20 June 2016 (depends on weather)  ✔ Read about my Goat Fell sleepover
Eat healthier and lose at least 28lbs 😊 18lbs off so far (1 January 2017)
Be more creative, including writing this blog 😏 I’m trying to write more posts but I do struggle for time. I need to improve this.
Learn about digital marketing ✔ 😊 Foundation course on digital marketing completed – April 2016

Currently working on advanced course

As well as improving my lifestyle, I was also contributing to the charity Bloodwise, the new name for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research, with purchasing the supporter pack and joining the online MPC prep program.

You might have already read about my failed attempt on hiking up Ben Lomond a few years ago … my peak challenge was a huge call out for me to bag my first Munro and change my life.

MPC prep program and peakers

Joining the online MPC prep program, which includes video exercises for all abilities, a healthy eating plan and access to a private Facebook support group, has really encouraged me to keep going with this. The Facebook group has over 3000 members from all over the world and increasing.

We’re all known as peakers!

Each and every one of us has an important goal and we’re determined to reach our peak. We’re also helping each other reach that goal with words of encouragement and support.

Here’s to reaching to my peak!

Thanks for reading.

    1. Thanks so much! Yes, I think I over done it a bit with the challenges lol. Writing it down really makes me do it, mostly. It has been a fun year though! Here’s to more challenges in 2017! 🙂

I tarted my bucket list two years ago I to Vietnam and last year I went to Alberta ,Canada and this year will be in London , Scotland and France. Next year am thinking going to my true homeland in Philippines.
While am in Philippines I’ll go to China. That’s my MPC goal to travel while am still young . Hehhe I mean going to 50.
        Thank you ,

      5. Hello Mags!

Thanks for stopping by to say hello :). I’m also a big fan of Outlander, such a brilliant show and great actors that make you feel the characters. I was hooked after the first episode lol.

Those sound like amazing travelling challenges! You are right to just do it, we’re never too old to do anything. I have so many personal challenges this year and I hope to achieve most of them. Time just goes past too quickly though.

MPC has certainly given me the drive to start and finish challenges. I stray off the path sometimes, then I find my way again :).

I hope you enjoy Scotland when you visit. You should check out the Visit Scotland website for advice on where to visit. They also have a whole section on Outlander filming locations and a trip planner 🙂

Lovely description of the group and why we all joined. The Facebook group is a wonderful environment where successes and failures can be shared, safe in the knowledge that all you will get from everyone is support and encouragement.
And meeting fellow peakers recently when we conquered Schiehallion munro confirmed for me that we are part of a community where individuals are driven/determined to succeed in their own challenges but will also do whatever it takes to help others achieve their goals too.
Looking foward to reading your other posts and seeing more of your photos.
