Thank you Alan, also known as Ardrossman, for nominating my blog for a Liebster Award! I had to Google that one … can’t even pronounce it …
What is a Liebster Award?
So, with a bit of looking around the world wide web I found out that the Liebster Award is an award that is passed from blogger to blogger in order to help readers find new blogs to follow! There is no actual ‘award’ given.
It is also a fun way to recognise and promote new up and coming blogs of a good standard with less than 200 followers (on WordPress).
Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome!
Should I accept this award?
To be honest, I was a bit wary at first because of possible spamming, but I see that many bloggers have accepted this and written posts.
It feels a bit like chain mail, but I can see the advantage of getting to know other bloggers old and new. This is a great way of promoting your blog and attracting new followers.
The only thing I would say is be careful how you answer your questions and make sure you’re not using a ‘secret answer’ that you would use in your online passwords.
Rules of the award
The rules of the award varies from blogger to blogger, so I’m following what Ardrossman sent me:
- Say ‘thank you’ to the person who nominated you
- Pick five people to nominate
- Ask five questions (this varies across the award message)
- Post the award picture in your post
Accepting the award
Yes, I accept the award! Below are my answers to Ardrossman‘s questions:
1. What made you want to start up a blog?
I’ve always wanted to try and write stories. I loved writing so much as a child and a teenager and I used to write in my diary every day for many years. It helped to get my thoughts out of my head. I was quite creative with my with stories as a child.
Life takes over as an adult though and I never seemed to find the time to write, research or even read much.
A friend started her own blog recently and invited me to follow it. We got talking about it and she said it was really easy to set up. So this inspired me to have a go as well as inspiration from others.
Even if I didn’t have any followers, it was still a place I could talk to myself with the added bonus of learning some new digital skills. Writing about something I enjoy doing would also help me improve my skills to become a better writer and reader.
Another reason is to encourage all of you, yes I mean you, to become more active with walking, exploring, cycling, running or whatever you like to suit your own ability.
Explore where you live. Let your eyes, mind and body experience places you’ve never seen before.
2. What do you like to drink as you blog – tea, coffee, hot chocolate
Usually tea, sometimes coffee and on occassion, dry white wine and soda.
3. What is your favourite book of all time?
Difficult one for me … I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read many books!
As a child I loved ‘The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles‘ by Julie Andrews. The most recent book I’ve read is ‘Knight in Shining Armour‘ by Jude Deveraux (historical romance).
My challenge this year is to read all of Diana Gabaldon’s books in the Outlander Series (again historical romance).
I’m a slow reader, so I think that stops me from even trying to read sometimes. Yet the only way I can get faster is to read more!
4. What is your favourite movie of all time?
Lots, lots, lots!
Can I say more than one? I think I should mention ‘some’ that I have watched more than once (they’re always the favourites).
In no specific order of preference:
1. Deer Hunter
2. Scent of a Woman
3. Goodfellas
4. Edward Sissorhands
5. How to make an American Quilt
6. Star Trek
7. Chronicles of Narnia
8. Lord of the Rings
9. The Hunger Games
5. What is your favourite meal?
I don’t really have one … I love mostly everything! Fuel for the day … sometimes too much!
My turn to nominate five people
Sorry in advance if you’ve already been nominated for this award!
It’s your choice if you want to accept this. I checked via my WordPress reader and you all seem to have less than 200 followers.
I would like to nominate the following brilliant blogs:
- wwww.worldofbookworm.wordpress.com
- www.cullodenbattlefield.wordpress.com
My five questions
- What made you want to start up a blog?
- What would your top tip be to anyone thinking about starting up a blog?
- If you could time travel, where would you go and what year?
- What do you do to relax and chill?
- If you had the opportunity to meet someone famous who would it be?
Keep on blogging 😀
Dawn-Marie
